Together, we are all on a lifelong faith journey! Here at St. John’s we believe that Faith Formation is much more than schedules and programs, and Youth Ministry is so much more than ‘youth groups’. Faith Formation partnering with Youth Ministry is about community and working together to help our children, teens and adults grow in faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Grades K – 5 Discover
Children discover basics of their Catholic faith. Using Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, instead of textbooks, the children are kept up to date on what is going on in the world and how it relates to their young lives as Catholics. The Gospel Weeklies are based on the Sunday readings at Mass and are sent home with the children each week to share with their family.
Grades 6 & 7 Explore
Also using Gospel Weeklies, teens are challenged to explore and engage in what it means to be Catholic in today’s world. They are able to take the Gospel Weeklies home each week to share with their families. Since the DISCOVER children also use and bring home the Gospel Weeklies, it will make it easier for families to discuss the theme of the week together with children in different grades levels.
Familes, Faith & Action
Grades K – 6 Familes
An OPTIONAL alternative to the ‘traditional’ classes for children in grades k-6 . Families meet once a month for an activity and guided reflections. They take Gospel Weeklies home to work on together. There are also on-line activities to do together as a family at home.
Grades 8 & 9 Journey On
A new program developed with the help of teens, parents & catechists. Engages teens with scripture, activities, videos, music, service, fellowship and food. Helping teens to connect their Catholic faith with the world they live in today. Sessions include large group fellowship nights and service field trips.
Every teen will recieve their own backpack and a bible to use as a ‘compass’ for their JOURNEY.
“One body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Eph 4:4-6
An engaging program for teens that helps with busy schedules. Teens meet in person only once a month and have one on-line session in-between each lesson. That is only 7 Wednesday evenings in-person plus a Power of One project of their choice to present at the end of the year. Teens are also invited to attend 2 ‘Large group events’ during the year (or more if they would like).
Grades 11 & 12
The Second Mile
“If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles” Matthew 5:41
Teens are invited to deepen their faith and learn how to “go the second mile” when it comes to being a disciple. Social Justice and leadership will be a couple of the major focus areas. These sessions are at no cost to participants unless as a group we decide to do a mission trip or field trip that might involve an expense.
This schedule will be determined by those participating in The Second Mile.
Please fill out the form if you would like to join THE SECOND MILE (No cost to join)
Please write the evening that you would prefer to meet (we will meet once a month unless the group chooses otherwise)
